August 2017 New Cross Stitch Releases- Blackwork, Roses

Dear Needlework Friends,

Another summer has gone so quickly- I hope it was a lovely one where you are! Growing flowers is a favorite past-time of mine, and  I especially enjoyed seeing ones that I planted from seed years ago, finally bloom. (Poppies, Ironweed, etc.)

As Autumn draws near, I’d like to share 2 new releases, and one recent one.

“Tranquility” repeats motifs over and over, yet combines these to form a lacy Blackwork Cross which is so peaceful to look at. The 4 thread shades can easily be changed to suit your decor.

“My Shepherd,” is an elegant Blackwork and Cross Stitch Sampler which says, “My Shepherd’s been this way before me, and He knows the path I tread.” Those who have suffered trials in their lives will understand how much our faith helps us through them.

A recent release which has not been featured before in our Newsletter is, “Serenity.” Inspired by The Serenity Prayer, it says, “Lord, please give Your wisdom to accept all things as from Your hand, with grace.”

The GREAT RECIPE I am enclosing is a very simple one with potatoes and bacon- yet you will enjoy it, even as leftovers.

Thank you for being a valued part of Linen Flowers/Timeless Handwork!

GREAT RECIPES- Potatoes, Bacon, And Corn

In a medium saucepan, dice 4 washed, unpeeled potatoes. Cover with water- turn on High. Add 2 cups frozen corn and 1 tsp. salt. Bring this to a boil, then turn heat to Medium.

Meanwhile, dice and microwave 1 pkg. pre-cooked bacon on paper towels 3 minutes or until crisp. Lay aside.

Cook potatoes and corn just until potatoes are tender, then drain water off in a colander. Do not add back to pan yet.

Add 1/4 c. butter to the pan, and turn heat back on until it’s melted. Add the bacon, 1/4 tsp. oregano and 1/4 tsp. parsley. Let this cook about 5 minutes, then add potatoes and corn, and stir well with a spatula to blend.

This is very quick, and good as leftovers, or even frozen for another meal.
